June 24, 2012 - Dwell on Design Panel: "The Designed Experience"

Delta Wright moderated a panel at the Dwell on Design show at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Titled "The Designed Experience: Collaborate With Your Designer To Create The Space That Is Yours," Delta invited her fellow Curated. cofounder Elena Frampton and Felix Pfeifle, director of the Office of Cultural Design to participate in the panel.

Delta began the discussion by revealing that the days of "designer as dictator" are over. Her guests discussed how they develop interiors that reflect the personal style of their clients and shared slides highlighting projects where translating their client's tastes yielded the most unique environments. Felix remarked, "Clients are often drawn to the eye candy of a finished project photo. Our roles as designer is to drive the process to ensure the end product relates to our client and the context of the site rather than a replication of trends."

Elena explained how "clients bring to the table their own history relative to spatial experience. Whether a childhood bedroom or memories of a family gathering space, our role is to understand and translate these qualities." She further explained, "Through dialogue we interpret our client's story and develop the project vision."

When offered the opportunity to moderate a panel, Delta selected a topic pertinent to Curated. projects and their relationships with clients and it was a pleasure to share this dialogue with the Dwell on Design audience.
